Upcomming Trip The Columbia, Missouri Ski Club is a non-profit organization that has an emphasis on ski (snowboard) trips.  Our membership includes all ages, singles, couples and families.  In addition to ski trips, we have social functions such as outings to the comedy club and local wineries.  We are dedicated  to having a good time on our trips, meeting new people and fellowship with our friends.  We are always anxious to share our fun with new members.

We have had some GREAT experiences together over the past few years on our various trips. Here a few photos of some of our trips.

Message from the Prez:

Hi to all.  Hope summer went well for everyone.  To those of you still holding onto a job, hope that worked out ok in these tougher times.  To those of you who have retired, hope you got to stay there and not return to the working world due to your financial needs.  If you’ve lost employment, I feel for ya.  And I’ll bet I’m probably not gonna get any response on the “Are ya goin’ skiing this season?” question.

But, if you don’t fall into those categories, then we’ve got some trips coming again this December and next January for two ski trips.  And, maybe a third in February or March.

The first meeting of the 2009&10 Columbia Ski Club is set for a Monday evening, the 14th of September, at Copper Kettle, Ashland, MO.  The group’s social time happens at 6pmwith a meal order taken sometime within the first 45 minutes or so.  The plan is to move the meeting locations around just a little, again this season, so you’ll have to read the ski club e-mail letter each month to see what’s on the schedule and where we’ll be meeting.  After September, these will be on the first Monday of the month, usually at 7pm .  This first meeting of the year is for dues and updating of the required club forms.  There will also be discussions on the possiblity of a third ski trip, with ideas to Beaver Creek or ??? just to through something out there.  Someone would also be needed to throw this together (and not the Captain Ron guy).  Here’s the info that’s set:

“THE POWER OF FOUR”

ASPEN-SNOWMASS-HIGHLANDS-BUTTERMILK

December 13 thru 18, 2009

For the fifth year, it will be four days of early skiing & boarding in one beautiful location of Aspen , Snowmass, Buttermilk and The Highlands; that’s right! FOUR different mountains this year, with FIVE nights in one of the best ski towns that Colorado has to offer, and all this for a $600 price.  Trip includes a 3-day lift ticket with an expansion of 1 day as a possibility.  This trip has gotten to be a popular one with this club and it’s been a deal, going on for five seasons now!  Aspen Square Condominiums has simply been a great place to take a vacation, winter or summer.  Last year, only one non-skier/boarder went, but the previous year there were six non-skiers along.  There’s plenty of things to enjoy even if not partaking of sliding down the slopes on a pair of slats.  Just ask them!

As usual, I need an input on 2br reservations vs. the studio units again (got 8 studios reserved this year for a bit more room and privacy at the same rate).  If my count is close on this, I’ve heard from 21 or 22 planning on joining this trip. One has already paid in full and we haven’t even had a meeting yet!!

So plan on going to ski and board at the Power Of Four Mountains and get your deposits with me soon, preferably at the Monday meeting at Copper Kettle.  It’s a ‘get-yourself-out-there’ trip, but there’s plenty of time for driving arrangements to be made for this one.

WINTER PARK / FSA 2010

January 27 to 31

The second trip is to Winter Park for the last week of January with Kenton Falk running the trip.  Start saving now for this one.  Get the flyers for both at the first club meeting of the 2009/10 season at Copper Kettle in Ashland , just a half mile south of the overpass on Highway 63, then west on Liberty Lane for a block and a half.

Come on out to Ashland this month to visit and renew stories with the group.  And if you’re interested in either of the two trips we have set up, bring your checkbook!  The Aspen trip comes on quick in three quick months.  Need deposits of $200 each on this one.  Got the same Aspen Square bookings as last season with rooming for up to 36 having been reserved and it’s very expandable!  I’ll need to verify a closer count for this Aspen trip by the end of this first meeting.  So, if you want to go and can’t make the meeting, simply call or e-mail me, get the initial deposit of $200 in, and you’ll be on the list.
