“THE POWER OF FOUR”

ASPEN-SNOWMASS-HIGHLANDS-BUTTERMILK

December 9-14, 2007

The slopes at Aspen and Snowmass are now open!!  Enough snow has fallen to open the runs on November 21 as scheduled.  We have 25 skiers and boarders in for the December trip, with 7 couples in the studio bedroom units at one end of the north building.  Only 3 guys (Steve, Don & Steve) are in need of rental equipment.  If I’ve missed anyone on rentals, please get in touch with Cap’n Ron.  We have availability for either a female or a male to still get in on this trip, so act now if youre interested!  This one has become fairly popular with the club, and has been elected to be continued because of the variety of snow activities and areas:  four days early skiing & boarding in Aspen area; four different mountains; five nights in one of the best ski towns in Colorado.  Some are going touring, some on dog sleds or snowmobiles and others to the slopes.  Lift tickets have been purchased and are intended to be distributed at the meeting on Monday night.

Sunday the 9th will is to be the tail end of the World Cup Skiing for the womens circuit taking place once again on Aspen Mountain and can be viewed from the balcony of the 2-br units if youre there early enough on the check in.

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS/ FSA 2008

January 29 to February 3

The second club trip is going to Steamboat Springs for Jan. 29 to Feb. 3 with Kenton Falk running the trip.  Weve got 15 going with room for one more, which at this point is really limited to a single lady.  But, if any four can get together, we might be able to regain the condo unit that was let go, but nothing is reserved for that now.  If this fits you, let Kent know ASAP.

Flyers can still be picked up at the December club meeting.

Final payment for the Trip is due at the December meeting!

Although payment for your lift tickets and long-sleeve T-shirt orders are not technically due until Wednesday, December 26th, it will probably be more convenient to you to “bring a check” for these items and get them arranged for at the December meeting too.  Again the shirts are logoed front and back (logos should be attached to this newsletter).  See the shirt at the meeting, each for the great price of $15!

New Zealand/Australia/Fiji Islands 2008

Kansas City (in reciprocation w/other clubs of Flatlands Ski Association) is assembling a waiting list on the 42 reservations for their July 26 through August 7 trip to down under.  The captain of this affair is Craig Robinson of KC Ski Club at 913-722-6621 hm.  This trip has a likelihood of losing a few of the signees by next summer, so if you have any interest at all, get in touch w/ him.

Argentina 2008

Tulsa (also in reciprocation w/other clubs of Flatlands Ski Association) has a summer trip with skiing involved and taking reservations for their July/August trip to South America.  No flyer yet.  Contact Kelley Phillips w/ Tulsa Ski Club at 918-447-0494 or e-mail her at kelley23@cox.net  for more particulars.

MEXICO 2009

The Flatlands Ski Association is taking some really loooong range reservations for a June trip to one of about 7 possible resorts in Mexico.  Direct flight from KC (MCI) is an attractive part of this one.  The captain of this affair currently is Kip Tevis of Kansas City (current VP and upcoming FSA President) 913-631-7553 hm.  This trip is said to be limited to 30 to 40 reservations, so if you have any interest at all, get a completely refundable $100 deposit to this FSA table at Steamboat in February or , as always, get in touch w/ Captain Ron.

So,

…..come on out Monday to socialize, dine, and catch up on the winter ski trips and summer trips being made available.  Travel plans can be solidified, if needed, to Aspen at this Mondays meeting.  Remember, these trips are (or will be soon) listed on the club’s website:

www.columbiamissouriskiclub.org.

You can get to all nine of the clubs in FSA by going to:

www.wichitaskiclub.com/fsa/.

As always, your $10 single or $15 family memberships are due in conjunction with participation on these club trips or FSA trips.
